Bromocriptine, a drug used against Parkinson's disease, is well known in obstetrics. Indeed, it is used to inhibit lactation after delivery or termination of pregnancy by slowing the release by the pituitary gland of prolactin, a hormone that is involved in the flow of milk.

PRAC ( European Committee for Risk Assessment for pharmacovigilance) , in a report just published, recommends only use it when feeding should be discontinued for medical reasons. In France, two specialties, and Parlodel Bromocriptine Zentiva, are marketed.
